What we stand for...
Canterbury Christian School is an extension of the family committed to the Christian training of grade school children.
We are probably all familiar with the ancient adage: A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. We are probably less familiar, however, with an important corollary: The direction of a thousand mile journey is also established by the first step! Even a little reflection will reveal the importance which the first step of any venture bears on its eventual outcome!
The psalmist of old communicated the very same message three thousand years ago when he penned the inspired words: Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth (Psalm 127:3-4). We learn three important elemental truths here. First, children are not “ours” but God’s -- and He entrusts them to our keeping. Second, the scope of parenting children entails responsibility for their education and training. Third, children are to be “launched” like arrows – in their youth! When it comes to training the children whom the Almighty has entrusted to us, the elementary years of education are without doubt the most important of all – for they set the direction for the rest of the child’s life!
Canterbury Christian School, though certainly open and available to all, in the final practical analysis is really for those who understand their grave calling and the immense responsibility placed upon their shoulders by God in the training of His children. Canterbury is for those who will commit themselves to the development of the entire child: spiritual, physical, academic, and social -- as seen through character development, responsible behavior, manners, and interpersonal skills. Canterbury takes its responsibility to direct God’s children along the path of life very seriously– and the results with which He has blessed our efforts speak for themselves.
We invite you to call and make an appointment to visit our classrooms and observe this developmental action first hand. Whether or not you are prepared for it -- and whether or not you understand it fully – your child’s journey of a thousand miles is upon you as parents! Which direction will your child travel? Is it a direction worthy of your family? And is it a direction worthy of our Heavenly Father Who has entrusted His child into your care?
